The delegates are bound by 3 things and 3 things only: Their own consciences; the standing rules of the Convention which are written by the delegates; Their view of where their fiduciary responsibilities lie.
If delegates are not of the “moral and religious” persuasion what kind of standing rules will the convention produce? To whom will they be loyal? To whom will their fiduciary responsibilities lie?
It is impossible to know.
