Update: County Commissioner meeting September 14, 2015 Best Chance to STOP Up to $10 Million Wasted Tax Dollars. See Video from Three Montgomery County Commissioners: Wallace Redd, Robert Gibbs & Arnold Hodges hosted an information meeting regarding plans by Clarksville Montgomery County to add an additional $10 Million in debt on top of recent city and county tax hikes. Wallace Redd (also a City Councilman) mentioned a recent news paper article by fellow City Councilman Wanda Smith documenting that current taxes are causing many seniors their homes.
The problem is compounding as outlined by these diligent Montgomery County Commissioners talk of recent acquisitions by the city and county many of which are in desperate states of disrepair and no funds have ever been established to use them for their original stated purposes. Examples included an old school purchased by the County and the old plant with the tall, decaying, tower purchased for the stated purpose of creating a museum.
The Commissioners also named two individuals who have been promoting this debt increase AND WILL BE VOTING ON IT own property that would be impacted by this action. This is an extreme conflict of interest and when you call them you may want to mention that you KNOW about the situation and will be watching it closely.
The City Council passed 1st Reading for this Thursday evening (Sept 3,2015) you can view that meeting on this link. It is Item 14.2 you want to watch. The City Council claimed this would not increase your taxes but THE TRUTH IS, IT ALREADY HAS. As the money for it was budgeted and was the reason for the most recent tax increase. It is time to stop falling for the propaganda and digging in for the truth and the Tennessee Watchman will make every effort to keep you informed.
The Clarksville City Council Vote is Scheduled for THIS THURSDAY, September 3rd. There is only today and tomorrow to let city Council know you don’t want the city adding additional debt after having just having to increase the debt to pay current budget expenses. Watch the video below for more detail. See links below for City Council Members and County Commissioner contact information. It is recommended to ALL THE CITY COUNCIL immediately as there is still time before the Montgomery County Commissioners meeting.
