Editor’s Note: Platform in Name Only GOP is just the OTHER leg of the same pair of pants, we know where the two legs meet. I rather suspect it had more to do with polling than conviction, or maybe he just wanted to piss off the Dems.
Native American Arizona Senator Carlyle Begay boldly left the Democrat Party on Monday and became a Republican, embarrassing and shocking the donkey party on two fronts, a) He switched parties to the “evil” Republicans rather than going Independent, and b) He’s a minority, and leaving the Democrat Party plantation, after you’ve been promised government dependence for life as a pandered to minority is a big no-no — the sin of all sins to a Democrat.
“How dare you!” Democrats everywhere must be shouting at Senator Begay.
In an interview following his decision to switch parties, Begay told The Blaze‘s Dana Loesch that he chose the Republican Party over going Independent because (emphasis added):
“Over the past two years, it’s been the Republican Party that has shown me a true commitment to improve the outcome of the quality of life for my people. It’s also been their leadership and vision that — you know — it’s about self-determination and self-empowerment.”
Well stated. I took the liberty to highlight the above words because Begay articulates very intelligently the difference between liberalism and conservativism.
Liberals promise a life of government dependence and depression, unable to achieve self-actualization. Conservatives offer a life of freedom, through cultivating an environment where anyone can achieve their true God-given potential.
A Navajo Nation member, Senator Carlyle Begay then tells Dana Loesch that while growing up his father and grandfather would teach him to reject the “handout mentality,” and replace it with “You yourself, or we as a community — it’s up to us to empower ourselves to improve the situation that we’re in.”
Begay further explained his decision, telling the Navajo Times that the Republican Party “were the party that was willing to listen” and that the Democrat Party was stuck in an “us vs. them” mentality, which considering divisive leaders like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, who believe Republicans are a bigger threat to America than radical Islamic terrorism, is easily explainable.
In a YouTube video of his announcement entitled “Change Must Happen Now”, Begay explains that unemployment rates are “as high as 80 percent” in Arizona tribal communities — a “crisis” level.
Arizona Republican Governor Doug Ducey welcomed Senator Begay to the GOP, lauding his “commitment to individual liberty, fiscal responsibility and personal empowerment,” in a statement.
Begay was elected in 2014, defeating an Independent, Kelly Gneiting, by an 83.7% to 16.3% margin. No Republican ran in the Democrat-dominated Arizona State Senate District 7.
At a press conference at the Arizona Capitol, a statement that is likely to cause liberal heads to explode due to their co-opting of the words “progress” and “forward,” Senator Begay said that the real “party of progress and moving forward” is the GOP.
“With an open mind and heart, I clearly see the Republican Party is a party of progress, a party of hope, a party of opportunity and moving forward — my party,” the Navajo lawmaker said.
Begay has figured out the Democrat Party’s game.…
