The legendary Clint Eastwood weighed in on the 2016 presidential race and as far as he’s concerned, any Republican is better than what we have now.
“I think there’s quite a few of them who are really good people,” he said.
“You know, I don’t know,” Eastwood replied. “I think people are looking for somebody who is outspoken and who isn’t afraid. And he seems to have kind of a fearless attitude. I like Ben Carson because he is kind of a common sense guy. Anyone of them would be better than what we got.”
“I’m just kind of looking and doing ‘watchful waiting’,” he said.
When asked if he thinks Donald Trump could go “all the way,” Eastwood said he was unsure.
“You know, I don’t know. It’s an unusual thing he’s done so far. I mean, he’s done quite well, so we’ll see where he goes. I think people are looking for somebody who is outspoken and who isn’t afraid. And he seems to have kind of a fearless attitude and he’s great. I like Ben Carson because he’s kind of a common-sense guy and he also doesn’t seem to be afraid.
“I’ve met [Marco Rubio], whom I like very much,” he said. “And Ted Cruz. Any one of them would be better than what we’ve got.”
Lopez asked Eastwood if he’ll be attending the 2016 GOP convention this year. He recalled his famous 2012 appearance.
“I don’t know,” he said. “I was invited the last time at the very last minute. I suppose they might not want me this year, because I’ll be talking to chairs and doing something stupid, which was strictly off-the-cuff.”
