While Mark Teal acknowledged the message, like any other, is primarily an effort to drive customer traffic. In light of the Obama administration’s continued focus on stricter gun control, however, the business owner does stand by his store’s partisan greeting.

“It’s mainly just to sell guns,” he told WSPA. “But there’s a little bit of political connotation to it also.”

Teal went on to describe his difference of opinion with Obama on the issue of guns, explaining that ordinary Americans have the same constitutional rights as the first family.

“I just think it’s strange that he has 24-hour security,” he said of Obama. “His children and wife have 24-hour security with armed guards everywhere they go. It’s OK for them to have armed guards, but it’s not OK for us to protect ourselves.”

With notable spikes in gun sales throughout Obama’s presidency, numerous commentators have credited the president’s anti-gun stance for the industry’s recent success.

As America becomes even less stable due to the increased threat of terror, Teal said even more citizens are rushing to exercise their Second Amendment right.

“When things like this happen,” he said of massacres like last week’s terror attack in San Bernardino, California, even many Americans “who have never thought about owning a firearm start thinking about it.”
