President Barack Obama spoke out about the attacks, focusing his response on the need for gun control rather than focusing on terrorism.

The president stated: “The one thing we do know is that we have a pattern now of mass shootings in this country that has no parallel anywhere else in the world. We should never think that this is something that just happens in the ordinary course of events because it doesn’t happen with the same frequency in other countries.”

Obama also said: “For those who are concerned about terrorism, some may be aware of the fact that we have a no-fly list where people can’t get on planes, but those same people who we don’t allow to fly could go into a store right now in the United States and buy a firearm, and there’s nothing we can do to stop them. That’s a law that needs to be changed.”

Former Arkansas Governor and current Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee took Obama to task over his response to the shooting in a recently released statement.

Huckabee asked: “What will it take for President Obama to abandon his politically-correct crusade for Islam?”

He went on: “It doesn’t take a Harvard law degree to identify the inspiration and source of the San Bernardino slaughter: radical Islamic terrorism.”

Huckabee concluded:

Yesterday, Obama moved with lightning speed to advance his radical gun agenda, but today, he seems consumed with creativity to generate an alternative explanation for what is explicitly self-evident. The facts are facts, and this is clearly radical Islamic terrorism. It’s time for Obama to stop masquerading as a leader and start acting like one.
