SHARE! Tonight A Facebook Messenger Scam Was Attempted On Your Editor!

Just a few hours ago I responded to someone I believed to be an old friend on Facebook messenger.  She said she had received a check from a government agency delivered by FedEX and that she had seen my name on the list and wanted to know if I had applied for mine yet.  She provided a facebook link the header of which is above.

The messages said ” “The money is from the federal government head office to help all the community ,The deaf, hard of hearing, hearing, poor and the widows, disable, retire and young one Now send him a message that you heard about him from me and you are told  that you are eligible to get the on going funds offer , so you are contacting him to help and claim yours too so he should help you out and tell you what to do.”

Government Grant Compensation Check
This is specifically place for those who need assistance paying for bills, buying a home, starting their own business, going to school”

I have shortened the url to prevent anyone from getting there on my account.  I have made a complaint to the FTC about it.  It is likely the one perpetrating this is off shore and not within their jurisdiction.

When I told them my wife was a Paralegal at an attorney’s office and that I would have her check it out prior to giving any information all the senders posts were deleted immediately.  Fortunately I had already copied the above text and sent it to my bride via email.

Please Share this post with everyone you know and hopefully we can prevent anyone from being caught in this trap!  Print copies and give it to any seniors or blind people you know as they seem to be the intended target.

If you are contacted by anyone like this don’t give out any information.  Report it to the authorities, copy and past as much of it as you can as it proceeds for evidence!

if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.
