Donald Trump, who remains in the lead in the GOP presidential primary race, said in a recent public appearance that President Barack Obama can’t admit that radical Islamic terrorism is behind many of the violent attacks happening on American soil.

“We have a president that refuses to use the term,” Trump said. “He refuses to say it. There’s something going on with him that we don’t know about.”

Trump’s comments came in response to the Dec. 2 mass killing that left 14 dead and 21 injured at a Christmas party at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, Calif. Speaking at the Republican Jewish Coalition, the businessman said he believes the incident was “probably related” to “radical Islamic terrorism.”

“Now, our president doesn’t want to use the term,” he commented. “We had another [shooting], which probably was – there was one yesterday, it probably was related. It always happens…but it probably was related. Radical Islamic terrorism.”

The shooters, Syed Farook and wife Tashfeen Malik, both Muslims, were killed by police after a car chase ended in a shootout. Farook was an environmental specialist at the San Bernardino County Public Health Department, which was hosting the party. Farook was at the holiday party but authorities said he left after a dispute, according to news reports.

Although he was an American born on U.S. soil, officials are now reporting ties to Islamic jihadists and stated that Farook was radicalized. He had contacted those expressing jihadist views in Los Angeles and had communicated with “persons of interest” overseas.

Obama admitted it was “possible” the mass shooting was a terrorist attack, but the president also said the motive for the killings could be “work related.”

Law enforcement believes the attack was planned because both were heavily armed and wearing tactical attire. The couple unleashed more than 75 rounds during their rampage at the center and tried to continue their killing spree with a pipe bomb, but that never detonated, according to authorities.

Two assault rifles and two semi-automatic handguns were legally purchased and registered by the couple, authorities said. In addition, the couple had more than 200 9mm rounds during the gun battle and 1,400 .223 rounds available. Authorities found three pipe bombs on a remote control car found at the center. Twelve more pipe bombs and more ammunition was found at the couple’s home during a police search.

“There was obviously a mission here,” said David Bowdich, assistant director in charge of the FBO in Los Angeles.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Farook, 28, traveled to Saudi Arabia in 2013 for the hajj pilgrimage, which is a religious event, to Mecca. He went to Saudi Arabia in July 2014 to bring Malik, 27, to the U.S. on a K-1 fiancee visa. Bowdich told Los Angeles reporters that Farook also traveled to Pakistan,…
