King Obama the Triumphant.
As he enters his final year in office, Barack Obama stood before the American people and proclaimed victory.
And he took a lap.
From his overzealous and unconstitutional use of “executive authority” on gun control and amnesty, to Obamacare to his single-handed decimation of America’s military, Barack Obama has made the best of his position – walking all over cowardly and compliant Republicans to fundamentally change the United States of America.
And he’s not done. Before his speech, he told the press he wanted to paint a bigger vision of the future, rather than focus on specific policy initiatives. And, boy … it’s more a nightmare than a vision.
Obama claimed we faced “four big questions” in the future:
First, how do we give everyone a fair shot at opportunity and security in this new economy?
Second, how do we make technology work for us, and not against us – especially when it comes to solving urgent challenges like climate change?
Third, how do we keep America safe and lead the world without becoming its policeman?
And finally, how can we make our politics reflect what’s best in us, and not what’s worst?
Underlying each of these supposed “questions” is Obama’s myopic leftism.
He answered the first question – about the “new economy” by tossing out nonsense statistics, ignoring that most economists predict we’re on the verge of yet another recession and that this so-called recovery is the most sluggish in our history.
The second question – about technology and climate change – he answered with a call to dump more federal money into failed solar- and wind-power schemes. He also made nasty quips about anyone who dares to challenge the “climate change” hysteria. Classy, Barack.
(Somewhere in the middle there, he put Joe Biden in charge of curing cancer. “Mission Control,” he called it. I had no idea Joe was so … talented.)
He then turned to national security. Without ever uttering the phrase “radical Islam,” Obama told us that ISIS doesn’t post a threat to national security. They’re “fighters on the back of pickup trucks and twisted souls plotting in apartments or garages,” he said. They’re not “representative of one of the world’s largest religions.” So just call them “killers” and “fanatics,” but never Muslims.
Finally, without accepting responsibility, Obama lamented how politically polarized Washington has become. Rather, he blamed the American people.
It’s the voters – you see – who keep voting for politicians who refuse to compromise with one another. “Changes in our political process,” he said. “In not just who gets elected but how they get elected – that will only happen when the American people demand it. It will depend on you. That’s what’s meant by a government of, by, and for the people.
Obama wrapped up by lauding the people he considers true American heroes: Prisoners, illegal immigrants, gay kids and Black Lives Matter activists.
And with that, Obama looked the American people in the eye and…
