My wife convinced me last night to watch the President’s State of the Union address. I didn’t want to – I knew it might be a problem. But I gave in to her wishes.
About five minutes into it, for some reason, I began screaming at the television.
President Obama was talking about how well Obamacare was working, how successful green energy is, and how great the economy is today.
As I was listening to all of the wonderful things that have occurred under the Obama administration, for some strange reason I began talking to the television, as if it was trying to convince me that what the President was saying wasn’t quite true.
Mr. Obama spoke about how he has cut the deficit. But my TV said “Hey – what about the national debt, that has increased by about 78% since January 2009?”
The President spoke of how great the economy was and but my TV kept saying “The labor force is smaller than it has been in decades, the median income for the average worker has dropped by $2500 and the real unemployment numbers continue to be around 9.9%.”
He praised the Affordable Care Act but my TV said “Health care premiums have gone up, not down. Some deductibles have increased to the point where patients can no longer afford them. And the statement ‘If you like your plan, if you like your doctor, you can keep them’ turned out to be untrue for millions of Americans.”
President Obama praised his green energy program as being successful. But my TV brought up the billions of dollars in government subsidies that were lost when so many green energy companies went bankrupt and how the private oil and gas industry has created the boom in energy production today.
The President spoke of how he has improved health care for veterans. My TV simply said “Really?”
Obama touted the strength of our nation – the strongest nation on Earth. My TV told me that not only has Obama descimated our military and purged all of the leaders who disagreed with him, but he has alienated our allies and is trying to befriend our enemies. And just hours before his address, his newest BFF, Iran, captured two U.S. Navy boats and 10 sailors. Obviously it’s not a big deal since the President didn’t mention it.
President Obama said he begins each day with an intelligence briefing. My TV said that’s not true – that Obama skips those briefings on a regular basis.
The President spoke of his success against ISIS, arming and training local forces in Iraq and Syria who are now making gains in the region. My TV mentioned that we spent billions of dollars training Syrian forces only to end up with only 5 men who were willing to actually fight. It also quoted the American pilots who have said publicly that Obama’s bombing campaign is mostly worthless.
Mr. Obama said ISIS, running around in pickup trucks, was not…
