The women who belong to Roman Catholic order Little Sisters of the Poor have been targeted by the Obama regime with a demand for the Catholic nuns to pay for birth control and abortions as part of their insurance plan. Obama may have thought he was messing with a bunch of little, meek ladies, but the sisters have stood up to Obama’s tyranny and filed a lawsuit contending that being forced to provide for birth control and abortion constitutes an attack on their religious freedom.
The case is currently pending before the Supreme Court for a decision. The Sisters were invited to attend the State of the Union by House Speaker Paul Ryan. At that time, the baby butcher and body parts chop shop Planned Parenthood criticized the attendance of the Little Sisters of the Poor as disrespectful. Now, Planned Parenthood fellow advocates for the killing of innocent babies in the womb have taken the attack on the Little Sisters of the Poor to a more dangerous and disgusting level.
During an appearance on CSPAN’s Washington Journal, NARAL’s vice-president Donna Crane made the asinine statement that the Little Sisters of the Poor, a Roman Catholic order of nuns, is not a religious organization.
“The Little Sisters of the Poor is a good example because they employ people of all faiths and no faith, and the mission that they undertake serves people of all faiths and no faith. This is not a religious enterprise, this is very much a social service organization.”
And the anti-God left’s war on Christianity is ramped up by the baby butcher supporters of NARAL.
The Little Sisters of the Poor once again stood firmly on their principles in defense of their religious freedom and responded.
“We’re consecrated women in the church,” Sister Constance Veit, the Little Sisters of the Poor communications director, told The Washington Examiner. “Christ is the center and the reason for everything we do and we care for the elderly because we see Jesus Christ is the core. To say we’re not religious….our whole lives are based on our relationship with Christ.”
In defining what constitutes a religious organization as they were determining who would be forced to pay for birth control, the Obama regime wrote it in such a way that would strip religious orders such as the Little Sisters of the Poor of their religious freedom forcing them to violate their religious beliefs.
According to the mandate, a religious employer is “a group that primarily employs and serves people of a given religion.”
Since the Little Sisters of the Poor serves more than just those who are Catholic, the government can, by Obama’s definition, strip them of their First Amendment rights.
Keep in mind that while the Obama regime is forcing the nuns of the Little Sisters of the…
