First Annual Veterans Day on the Hill

We have a date for the first annual Veterans Day on the Hill but, it is quickly approaching. I will need EVERYONE to help me spread the information through out the state. Be sure to get this to your state leaders and get all chapters involved. While we want organizations to get their members involved, this an opportunity for ANYONE to advocate for our veterans. When the RSVP is received information will be sent that includes the bills we are focusing our efforts. Numbers matter if we want to make a difference. We are planning on making this an annual event. POC’s Sherry Pickering (, Vivian Fivecoat ( , or Bill Summers (

When you RSVP, please provide:
1) Who will be the Point-of-Contact (POC) for your organization (name, email, phone). We will submit future materials, via email, to the POC. The POC, in turn, will forward that information to other organization members that will be attending this event. Unless you are an individual in which case summit your information.

2) Names of fellow organization members that will attend.

3) The name of the state senator(s) and representative(s) that represent those that will attend. We also want to know the elected state representatives for members of your organization who are unable to attend. Example, in our larger cities there could three, four or more House of Representative officials that may cover that city. Members of your organization may live in all of the districts of those representatives. We want to know all the elected state officials that cover/represent all your members too. You will be visiting all of them at the Capital.

Other preparations: On the date of our event we want you to wear any organizational hat, vest, badges/nameplates/etc, or hat that denotes a veteran or service retiree. You will be talking to our representatives as an interested veteran and we want you SEEN by our representatives as those who have served our country.
While individual or groupings of veteran organizations have visited the chambers at Nashville to work issues, we are unaware of an effort to try and bring all, or as many of the veteran groups together at one time. Additional proposed laws that affect veterans are being added daily at the state capital and this is our chance to prioritize and voice our opinion on the chosen actions. This is our time to act and be heard. We plan to make this and annual effort. Participation is NEEDED to make this work.

More information will be provided to those who RSVP in the next few days.

if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.
