Obviously Occupy Democrats are still raging with mental illness.
This is yet another meme that is full of lies and completely factless. We’ve talked over and over and over again how raising the minimum wage kills jobs, hurts businesses, hurts consumers and hurts the economy.
We have historical proof from years of data analysis and from current minimum wage mandates from the union hacks pushing ‘Fight for 15.’
Just recently it happened in Seattle:
Seattle’s poorly conceived $15 minimum wage law has already cost the city 900 restaurant jobs, and this is just the beginning.
According to the American Enterprise Institute, in 2014 the Seattle City Council passed a $15 minimum wage law that began to take effect at the beginning of 2015, when wages rose to $9.47 per hour. Four months later, it rose to $11/hour, and at the start of next year, phase three will begin, thus pushing wages even higher to $12/hour.
And then there’s San Francisco where small businesses are hurt the most:
Hibbs says that the $15-an-hour minimum wage will require a staggering $80,000 in extra revenue annually. “I was appalled!” he says. “My jaw dropped. Eighty-thousand a year! I didn’t know that. I thought we were talking a small amount of money, something I could absorb.”
Hibbs is not inclined to circumvent the market: “Despite being a progressive living in San Francisco, I do believe in capitalism. I’d like to have the market solve this problem.” That applies not just to his plight, but to the question of the minimum wage: “We’re for a living wage, for a minimum wage, in principle. . . . But I think any law that doesn’t look at whether people can pay may not be the best way to go.”
“Why,” he asks, “can’t two consenting people make arrangements for less than x dollars per hour?”
But don’t let facts get in the way of an ignorant meme.
And the ‘jobs bills’ they are referring to? There were bi-partisan jobs bills passed in the House that were held up by… wait for it… Senator Harry Reid.
Reid ruled over a ‘do nothing’ Senate during his failed reign yet somehow that’s the fault of Republicans.
Under the control of Senate Democrats, “The Senate went three months this spring without voting on a single legislative amendment, the nitty-gritty kind of work usually at the heart of congressional lawmaking,” The Washington Post reports. “So few bills have been approved this year, and so little else has gotten done, that many senators say they are spending most of their time on insignificant and unrewarding work.”
Check out the stats. Even Democrats have complained about the Senate’s obstruction, and one actually said he was “furious.” When President Obama tried to blame Republicans, his rhetoric didn’t match reality and fact-checkers called him out for it, noting the dozens of jobs bills listed on speaker.gov/jobs that Senate Democrats are currently blocking.
As usual, Occupy Democrats are clueless and once again lying to their minions.
