CPAC Announces Return to Conservative Roots; Closing Speaker is an Excellent Start

Editor:  Like most of the talking heads and larger “Tea Party” groups cooped by the GOP establishment the ACU has been part of the bread and circuses designed to keep patriot’s eyes off the ball.  There is only ONE STANDARD we should hold up and that is the Constitution.  Any subset of that standard, like “conservative values”, is part of the “big tent” establishment tool kit.  If you don’t know the Constitution you don’t have a true map to follow, you are subject to HYPE and misdirection.

It looks like the Conservative Political Action Conference is putting the “C” back in CPAC.

Power Is The Application of KnowlegeAfter venturing into RINOism, lukewarm moderatism, and squishism, with past speakers like “Obama’s Mitch” McConnell, Matt Schlapp, the new chairman of the American Conservative Union, which runs CPAC, the major annual conference of conservatives across the country, is returning the conference to its conservative roots.

Part of that shift is the announcement on Friday that megastar radio host, best-selling author and founder of The Blaze, Glenn Beck, will be delivering the closing remarks at CPAC 2016, and he promises to hold nothing back.

Matt Schlapp joined Glenn Beck on his radio program on Friday to confirm the bold announcement.

In 2010, Beck spoke at CPAC and gave a stemwinder of a speech, powerfully calling out progressivism in both political parties as a “disease,” pointing out that the first progressive wasn’t a Democrat, but was big government Republican Theodore Roosevelt, who started the Bull Moose Party, a progressive political party and movement.

“As in most things, you get it right, Glenn,” Schlapp said. “And you are going to close out the conference, which is going to be on March 5th . . . right near Ronald Reagan Airport. And you got the theme right too — Our Time Is Now,” which is based off of Reagan’s very first public event after he was elected president.”

Beck, after his no-holds-barred 2010 CPAC speech, was somewhat surprised that he was invited back, realizing that he ruffled feathers within the GOP establishment. So he asked Schlapp what caused CPAC’s decision to go back to their conservative roots, Schlapp admitted the mission had gotten off course and said that we have to be “authentically conservative.”

“I think what we have decided to do is to say, ‘Look, we have to be true to our original mission, and we have to be authentically conservative.’ And I think if we do that, the market, which are voters and activists across the country, will respond,” Schlapp said. “You know, we’re not going to be nasty about it, but we’re going to stand up for our principles, and we’re going to stand up for our country. And CPAC has to reflect that because, you know, we’re watching our country transform before our eyes.”

Schlapp explained a life experience very similar to that of Ted Cruz , in that his father escaped Cuba and Castro’s communism. As we all know, some of the most staunch conservatives are those who have escaped from the other side.

This is a GREAT announcement for CPAC and should cause this year’s conference to go out with a bang!
