We’ve been looking at why we should—yes—teach our kids evolution! We know it’s important because children will run into it eventually, and they need a firm foundation in truth. Plus, knowing what others believe shows them you care. Here’s a third reason: it helps us avoid bad arguments.
If you don’t know what the other side believes, you’ll probably ending up using some bad arguments. Here’s an example: some Christians argue, “If we evolved from apes, why are there still apes around?” Well, evolutionists believe we evolved from ape-like ancestors and apes are our cousins. So, this is a bad argument.
Knowing what evolution teaches will help our young people effectively argue against it.
