Maryland Woman with MS Has Been Waving American Flag Nearly Every Morning for Two Years

Chari Raye McLean is a familiar sight for the residents of Annapolis, Maryland.

McLean says she has been waving the American flag nearly every weekday morning for two years near a busy intersection in Maryland’s capital city.

McLean has multiple sclerosis, but says she doesn’t see that as an excuse to not give back to her country.

In an interview with The Western Journal, McLean discussed her disability, and explained why she sees waving the flag as a way to give back.

“I’m kind of like a female Trump. I love America, its why I hold the flag. Because with MS, it’s the least I can do. I’m too old to join the military. So I hold the flag and try to wake up the youth, because they’re what matters in this world,” said McLean, who wore a “Make America Great Again” hat during the interview.

“It’s the future of our great country, and the youth we’ve got to teach them that it’s a privilege to live in America”.

While speaking with The Journal, McLean waved repeatedly as drivers in passing cars beeped their horns or yelled, “We love you”!

Despite apparent admiration from the surrounding community, McLean admits that she isn’t perfect.

McLean pleaded guilty in 2016 to malicious destruction of property after she damaged a Black Lives Matter sign at a nearby church.

When asked about the incident, McLean immediately fessed up to the offense.

She claimed her motivation was concern for police officers, as well as what she believes to be the truth behind the BLM movement.

But McLean appeared unfazed when discussing both her past legal issues and her potentially controversial custom of waving the flag while wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat.

“I take a risk holding the flag with my Trump hat, but its a risk worth taking because we have to stand up and fight for what we believe in,” she said.

if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.
