Pompeo: Kim Jong-Un Follows the Western Press, ‘He Will Probably Watch This Show’

BY:

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on “Fox News Sunday” North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un follows western media and that “he will probably watch this show.”

“He does follow the western press,” Pompeo said. “He will probably watch the show at some point. He’s paying attention to things the world is saying.”

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited North Korea for the second time and secured the release of three American prisoners. During his visit, Pompeo finalized the details for the upcoming summit between Trump and Kim. Trump announced Thursday that his meeting with Kim will take place in Singapore on June 12, saying they would try to make it a “very special moment for world peace.”

Fox anchor Chris Wallace asked Pompeo what the North Korean dictator is like.

“With the possible exception of Dennis Rodman. he has spent more time with him than any other westerner. The way I figure it,” Wallace said. “What is he like? Give us any kind of personal insight. How aware is he of what President Trump has been saying, was there any mention of little rocket man?”

“I’ve got a lot fewer rebounds than Dennis Rodman but I did get to spend a great deal of time with Chairman Kim,” Pompeo said. “The conversation was professional. He knows his brief, he knows what he is trying to achieve for the North Korean people. He is able to deal with complexity when the conversation requires it.”

Wallace asked if there was any mention of the insults between the two leaders were part of the conversation.

“No we didn’t cover that,” Pompeo said.

The rhetoric between the two countries has changed dramatically in the past few months. Trump dubbed Kim as “rocket man” and compared nuclear button sizes. The president also promised there would be “fire and fury” in response to North Korea threats of conflict.

Now, Trump is praising the North Korean dictator for his recent behavior.
