CNN host Erin Burnett did not ask Rep. Eric Swalwell (D., Calif.) about the attempted stabbing of his GOP opponent in a Tuesday night interview.

Swalwell appeared on “Erin Burnett Outfront” and the interview focused primarily on the special counsel investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and attorney . Burnett didn’t ask a single question about the attack on Swalwell’s Republican opponent Rudy Peters.

Over the weekend, authorities arrested a man on suspicion of felony assault and other charges after allegedly attempting to stab Peters with a switchblade, according to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office.
Peters was approached by a man, area resident Farzad Fazeli, who began to act aggressively towards him and shout profanity-laced comments about Trump and the Republican Party.Fazeli then attempted to stab Peters, until the switchblade malfunctioned. After a physical altercation, Fazeli fled the scene. He was later arrested with the switchblade in his posession.

Fazeli was arrested on charges including felony assault, criminal threats, brandishing a weapon, and possession of a switchblade knife.

Peters was uninjured. He was attending a local fall festival in Castro Valley at the time of the attack.

Swalwell did tweet about the incident on Tuesday.

“On Sunday, my opponent @PetersCongress was attacked at his campaign booth in Castro Valley. I’m glad to hear Mr. Peters is okay. But it’s NEVER okay to use violence to settle political disagreements (or any disagreement). Fortunately, @ACSOSheriffs arrested the suspect,” Swalwell tweeted.

The incident was not once referenced by Burnett during Swalwell’s appearance.
Swalwell has been in office since 2013.
